The Dermalux Flex model is safe to be used at home on the face & body for skin rejuvenation, wound healing & general skin wellbeing.

It works by exposing the skin to low level, non-thermal light to stimulate or regulate biological processes within the skin. Each wave length activate key cell receptors and triggers cell activation via transferring the light to cellular energy within the skin.

What is the Dermalux Flex MD?

The Dermalux Flex MD is a professional LED phototherapy system designed for both professional and home use. It uses three clinically recognised wavelengths of light — Blue 415nm, Red 633nm and Near Infrared 830nm — which can be used individually or in combination according to your recommended treatment protocol.

Unlike many consumer LED masks, the Flex MD has a large flexible treatment panel that can be positioned over the face or areas of the body. The Dermalux Flex MD is a Class IIa medical device and is manufactured in Britain.

Can I rent a Dermalux Flex MD to use at home?

Yes. SkinCare At Home offers Dermalux Flex MD home rental in Belfast and the Greater Belfast area. Rental allows you to use a professional LED phototherapy system regularly at home without purchasing your own device.

We currently offer 7-day introductory access, 14-day rentals and extended 28-day rentals, subject to availability and suitability.

How much does it cost to rent a Dermalux Flex MD?

Our current Dermalux Flex MD home rental prices start from £129 for 7 days, £199 for 14 days and £349 for 28 days.

Most clients choose at least 14 days, as having the device at home makes it easier to establish a consistent LED phototherapy routine.

Where can I rent a Dermalux Flex MD in Belfast?

SkinCare At Home provides Dermalux Flex MD rentals for home use in Belfast and the Greater Belfast area. You can collect and return your Dermalux from SkinLab in East Belfast (BT4), or ask us about courier delivery and collection within the Greater Belfast area.

All rentals are subject to availability and a suitability consultation.

How long should I rent a Dermalux for?

We offer 7, 14 and 28-day Dermalux rental options.

Seven days can be useful if you simply want to experience the system, while 14 days is our recommended minimum rental period for clients wanting to establish a consistent home LED routine. A 28-day rental provides more time for regular use and may be more suitable for clients following a longer treatment protocol.

Your recommended rental period and treatment frequency can be discussed during your consultation.

How often can I use Dermalux Flex MD at home?

The Dermalux Flex MD can be used daily, although the appropriate frequency and treatment duration depend on your individual skin concern and recommended protocol. Dermalux describes the benefits of LED phototherapy as cumulative, meaning consistency is important.

How long does a Dermalux Flex MD treatment take?

The Flex MD allows treatment times of between 1 and 30 minutes, depending on the selected treatment protocol.

Your recommended treatment time will depend on the area being treated, your skin goals and the wavelength or wavelength combination being used.

What can Dermalux LED phototherapy be used for?

Dermalux Flex MD uses different wavelengths of light for different applications. Blue 415nm targets acne-causing bacteria and can help improve skin clarity; Red 633nm supports skin rejuvenation and can improve the appearance of fine lines, tone and texture; Near Infrared 830nm supports skin repair and renewal and can help reduce visible redness.

Dermalux Flex MD is therefore commonly used as part of routines for concerns including blemish-prone skin, visible signs of ageing, redness and general skin rejuvenation.

What is the difference between red, blue and near-infrared Dermalux light?

Blue light (415nm) is primarily used for blemish-prone and acne-prone skin because it targets acne-causing bacteria.

Red light (633nm) supports rejuvenation and is commonly used to improve the appearance of fine lines, skin tone and texture.

Near Infrared (830nm) penetrates more deeply and supports repair and renewal while helping reduce visible redness.

The Flex MD allows wavelengths to be selected individually or in combinations according to the recommended protocol.

Can Dermalux Flex MD be used for acne?

Yes. The Dermalux Flex MD’s 415nm blue wavelength targets acne-causing bacteria and is indicated by the manufacturer for Acne Vulgaris Grades 2–3. Red and Near Infrared wavelengths may also form part of a treatment protocol depending on the individual’s skin.

Can Dermalux help with redness?

Near Infrared 830nm and Red 633nm light can be used as part of Dermalux protocols designed to support skin health, repair and the appearance of redness. Dermalux lists redness among the concerns that can be treated with the Flex MD.

If you have an underlying skin condition or are receiving medical treatment for persistent redness, you should seek appropriate professional advice before using LED phototherapy.

Can I use Dermalux after microneedling, peels or other skin treatments?

LED phototherapy is widely used by skincare professionals alongside other aesthetic treatments. However, the appropriate timing depends on the procedure you’ve received.

If you’re renting a Dermalux following a professional skin treatment, follow the advice of the practitioner who performed your procedure regarding when to begin LED phototherapy.

Do I use skincare products underneath the Dermalux?

No. Dermalux recommends beginning treatment with clean, dry skin free from makeup, SPF and skincare products to optimise light delivery.

Once your LED treatment has finished, you can apply your usual skincare products.

Can I use Dermalux Flex MD on my body?

Yes. One of the advantages of the Dermalux Flex MD is its large flexible LED panel, which can be positioned for both facial and body treatments.

Dermalux identifies the face, neck and décolleté, body and hands as suitable treatment areas. For body treatments, the panel should be positioned slightly away from the skin rather than placed directly against it.

Do I need to wear goggles with Dermalux?

Yes. The protective eye goggles supplied with the Flex MD should be securely worn during facial treatments.

For body treatments, Dermalux states that eye protection is not required, although you should avoid looking directly at the LEDs.

Does Dermalux contain UV light?

No. Dermalux LED phototherapy does not use UV light. The Flex MD uses specific blue, red and near-infrared wavelengths and does not generate the damaging heat associated with some other light-based treatments.

Does Dermalux hurt?

Dermalux LED phototherapy is non-invasive and treatments are generally comfortable and relaxing. You may notice a gentle feeling of warmth during treatment, but the Flex MD does not generate damaging heat.

Is there downtime after using Dermalux?

Dermalux LED phototherapy is non-invasive and does not ordinarily require downtime. You can continue with your normal routine after treatment and apply your usual skincare products afterwards.

Is Dermalux Flex MD safe to use at home?

The Dermalux Flex MD is specifically designed for professional and home use and is a Class IIa medical device.

Who should not use Dermalux Flex MD?

Dermalux is suitable for a wide range of users, but some medical conditions, medications and circumstances can make LED phototherapy unsuitable.

You should review the contraindications in the Dermalux User Guide before treatment. If you take medication, have a medical condition, have a photosensitivity disorder or are uncertain whether LED phototherapy is suitable for you, seek appropriate medical advice before use.

What is included with my Dermalux rental?

Your rental includes the Dermalux Flex MD system and the accessories required for home treatment, including protective eye goggles. You’ll also receive instructions and guidance on using the system.

We provide support throughout your rental period if you have questions about using your Dermalux.

How do I book a Dermalux home rental?

Start by checking availability or sending us an enquiry with your preferred rental dates. We’ll then confirm availability, discuss suitability and recommend an appropriate rental period.

Once your rental is confirmed, we’ll arrange either collection from East Belfast (BT4) or delivery where available.
